Changing faceplates on the LG 6100 cell phone

Hello all! After numerous faceplate trial and errors on my part, I thought I would share my knowledge with others. Hopefully you will find this helpful. First of all, if you are looking to change your LG (mine is a 6100 model, so keep in mind that not all models are the same) faceplate, realize that you will more than likely have to do this yourself, as cell phone gepanies do not put them on for you. By placing a non "factory" (ie boring) faceplate on your phone it voids your manufacturers warranty. But who uses those anyway, right. A vast majority of cell phone providers will not put these faceplates on for you. Oh, but they are so much cooler than plain silver. So let's get started. First thing you want to do is put a little super glue around the inside of the screen on your new faceplate. Sounds strange, but trust me, it's a real pain when that little screen pops out on you. Because let's face it, you just bought three of these for a penny, did you expect that faceplate to last forever? Then on the inside of your phone around the inside screen you will see four little rubber "plugs". Make sure you have a set of those tiny screwdrivers you can get at your local wal mart. Use the smallest flat head one to pry out the plugs. This is quite difficult, and you will more than likely scratch your phone a little bit. That's the price you pay for being cool. Once you have all of the little plugs off, use the appropriate size phillips head screwdriver to remove the little screws. Keep an eye on them, they have a tendency to get lost. If they do, just go back to wal mart and buy one of those eyeglass repair kits they sell by the check out, it's the same size screw. Ok, now here's where you will more than likely scratch your phone the most-use the little flat head again and slide it in between the faceplate on the outside and the housing of your phone. You need to twist it to pop up the faceplate and keep sliding it down until you can get ahold of the faceplate and pop it gepletely off. Then just pop your new faceplate gepletely on, rescrew the screws and replace the rubber plugs if you want to. I choose not to because of the effort it takes to get them off. It would probably be best to turn your phone off before you do this, but that's up to you. Now enjoy your new faceplate!!! A side note-if you have a 6000 model, there are a couple of really small screws you need to take off around the camera. I can't give you specifics on how, I had to have a friend figure that one out for me. The 6100 does not have thesse. Good Luck!
