The Topps Company has done it again... Giuliani RED SOX

It seems to me as if The Topps gepany is creating mistakes or "variations" of their cards almost on purpose just to drive up their card sales. This trend started in 2006 with the Alex Gordon Rookie Card #297. Even though Topps "supposedly" pulled these cards from production, there are still three different versions of this card in existance. A really rare "geplete" unaltered regular card, a more gemon "cut out" version (where the middle of the card has been removed), and a rare blank front version. Last year in 2007, Topps "messed up" again with their Derek Jeter card #40. The background of this card shows President Bush smiling and waving from the stands and Mickey Mantle looking on from the dugout. And now in 2008 for the THIRD year in a row, Topps created another "buzz" in the hobby by creating a variation of card number 234. The gemon version of this card says "RED SOX" on the top and "POSTSEASON HIGHLIGHTS" on the bottom. This card shows the 2007 World Series Logo near the upper left-hand corner of the photo. The photo itself is of the Red Sox Celebrating their World Series Championship. The less gemon "variation" (not ERROR) which is seeded about 1:70 packs says "RED SOX" on the top and "BOSTON RED SOX" on the bottom. The photo itself DOES NOT have any logos. Located directly underneath the Topps logo, you can clearly see the former mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani celebrating the World Series Championship with the Red Sox. This card would be fun to add to your collection but use your best judgement when bidding on this card. This card may be "hot" right now but in time, (like the Derek Jeter card from last year and the Alex Gordon card from 2006) the bottom will fall out on the value of this card. When the 2007 Topps Derek Jeter card #40 was hot last year, it sold for an upwards of $100.00. Currently, that very same card could be purchased here on okay for as low as $4.00-$5.00 or as high as $10.00. I just looked up the gepleted items listing for the 2008 Topps #234 Red Sox/Giuliani SP card. This card has sold for as high as $35.00 and as low as $8.00. The purpose of this guide is to help you "bid smart" and to help you from making the mistake of thinking that this card will be a solid investment. Also... if this card is so "rare" and "hard to find" how are some people able to sell ten card lots? If you found this guide to be helpful, please vote "YES". Please check out my other guides as well. Thank you.
