Anti-Aging Skin Care Guide

As we age, time marches across our faces! But there are some great products that can dimish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Some are temporary fixes, but others help improve the skin's overall appearance over time! This guide was created to give you some direction in choosing which products to use.

At some point, most of us look will in the mirror and see our parents looking back at us and we are not always thrilled with what we see. Fine lines and wrinkles, deep groves and discoloration. There are some simple steps one can take to help diminish the signs of aging and regain a more youthful appearance.
First, use sunscreen everyday! Use sunscreen everywhere! On your face, neck, arms and body. Sun damage ages skin more than almost anything else! A bit of protection can help prevent further sun related damage. (I regemend a foundation or moisturizer with sunscreen for your face. Dr. Denese Ultra Hydrating Defense Day Cream or Philosophy When Hope is Not Enough SPF are wonderful! Bare Escentuals Foundation contains a natural SPF 15.)

Second, follow a good skin care routine daily. Wash your face everyday with a good cleanser. Follow with a toner (if necessary) and a good moisturizer. Use exfoliating products to help remove dead skin cells (which can emphasize fine lines and wrinkles.) There are several good products out there: microdermabrasion creams, exfoliating pads (Dr. Denese Facial Firming Pads, or Philosophy Microdelivery Peel Pads), and at home peels (Philosophy and Dr. Denese have several good peels.) Make sure to follow any exfoliation with the products regemended by the manufacturer (such as hydroshield, when hope is not enough facial firming serum, etc.)

Third, use some of the new serums and creams on the market for both temporary improvement and long lasting improvement. There are several new serums and creams that help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and deep expression lines. Some work temporarily while others are treatment based products that offer improvement over time.
Some of the temporary products are: Dr. Denese Hyaluronic Wrinkle Filler Cream and Serum and Dr. Denese Instant Wrinkle Press (although the ingredient GABA has been shown to improve the skin over time as well).
Some of the treatment based products are: Dr. Denese Wrinkl-less Serum, Dr. Denese Triple Smoothing Wrinkle Line (Eye, Lip and Face creams), Hydroshield, and Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough Replenishing Night Cream.

There are some key ingredients that have been shown to reduce the signs of aging. Here is a list of a few and their benefits...

BHA's - Beta Hydroxy Acid helps exfoliate the skin for smoother looking skin.
Salicylic Acid - Helps exfoliate skin, clearing the pores.
Glycolic Acid - Helps exfoliate the skin, giving it a smoother looking appearance.
Lactic Acid - Helps exfoliate the skin, giving it a smoother appearance and clearing the pores.
Haloxyl - Helps lessen the appearance of dark circles around the eye.
Arbutine - Helps lessen dark pigmentation around the eye.
Peptides - There are several different types of peptides used in skin care (particularly anti-aging skin care) treatments. These help moisturize the skin.

Although this guide is not intended to include everything about anti-aging skin care, I hope you find it helpful! Thank you for taking the time to read it.
